I have a confession. I rarely read an entire blog post. I follow a lot of blogs, but generally I am not interested enough to read the whole post. There are a few exceptions of course, mostly articles related to business stuff but ironically not the design or DIY stuff I write about. The other day, however, I came across an exceptional transformation by talended furniture designer and builder, Ariele Alasko, of Brooklyn to West. At first I did my usual scroll through the pretty pictures, but had to backtrack when I saw this image:

Not only did this talented lady hand-stamp the fabric to create the modern graphic pattern, she also carved rubber to make the stamp!
She completed the upholstery work herself, giving nod to how difficult and labour intensive upholstery is. If you ever wonder why reupholstery services cost so much, read this post. Thanks Ariele.
Brooklyn to West posts may be few and far between, but quality trumps quantity, inspiring readers and offering appreciation for the blogger’s craft.
Bonnie
PS I follow Brooklyn to West for the beautiful things she makes with wood, like the wall panels below.

I have done the rubber printing bit before and that alone is enough work! Not sure how she got her stamp so perfect, and her prints on the linen are all perfectly aligned. This person is seriously picky to get it so beautiful!
Yeah totally, I think she must have spent a TON of time on the fabric alone. Beautiful.
I just adore her blog! She’s all over Tumblr- so pretty and rustic all at the same time. Nothing beats handmade.
