Arctic Aire ADR50B1G 50 Pint Dehumidifier

Arctic Aire ADR50B1G dehumidifier

Dampness in your home is not just uncomfortable, it can also be quite damaging and unhealthy. The best way to eliminate unneeded and unwanted moisture from humid air is with a dehumidifier such as this sleek, portable unit from Danby. This potent machine can effectively do away with about 50 pints (23.7 liters) of water from the air every 24 hours. It is just right for large rooms as well as offices, apartments and condos. Your electricity bills will be kept in check as the unit is Energy Star compliant as well as being environmentally efficient due to its R410A refrigerant. The contemporary electronic controls with LED display make it easy to program the humidity settings and quiet two-speed fan. The smart appliance features a low-temperature component which enables it to run on a continuous basis until the temperature drops to 5° Celsius (41° Fahrenheit). There is a handy automatic restart device in case of a power failure and the coils are kept free of ice with the automatic de-icing system. Cleaning is effortless due to the removable filter and the intelligent dehumidifier can operate continuously with its direct-drainage system. This model can easily be transported from room to room with its built-in rolling castors and it also features a 24-month warranty on parts and labor with carry-in service.

How it works

Your Danby Dehumidifier can be broken down into 5 main components: Fan, Compressor, Reheater, Compressor Cooling Coils, and Reservoir. All of these parts fit together to pull moisture out of the air by a fan that collects air from the surrounding area and pulls it into the dehumidifier. As the air passes through, it comes into contact with the dehumidifier's cooled coils. These coils use condensation to pull moisture from the air. The collected moisture remains on the coils and drips into the dehumidifier's reservoir. The dehumidifier reheats the air and exhausts it back into the room.

Using your Dehumidifer – really save on your utility bills and diminish your carbon footprint

Set the Humidistat at a reasonable level, at Danby we suggest that you set the desired humidity to between 40 – 50 percentKeep your doors and windows closed when your Danby Dehumidifier is runningKeep it away from sources of excessive dust or dirt, since this can very quickly clog the machineBe sure to check and clean your dehumidifier's filter regularly, this will help ensure that it's operating as efficiently as possibleThe water produced by your Danby Dehumidifier is referred to as greywater. It is not suitable for drinking water, but it can be great for watering houseplants and flowers, since it's less salty than tap water

If I could give this a tiny bit less than a “5”, I would. This product is very quiet and is a “work horse”! My husband and I can hardly believe the amount of water it takes out of the air! We live in humid Florida and it has increased our comfort level tremendously! We are able in put our A/C on 78 instead of 75 degrees, when the outside temperature is in the high 90’s. Our home is apx 2,200 sq. ft. and our entire home is comfortable without moving the unit from room to room. The only thing that keeps this from being a “5” is that it is a bit difficult to put the bucket back in after you empty it, but it gets easier with time. We love this dehumidifier and heartily recommend it!

Just what we needed!

We have a little lake house that gets very damp during the winter months. It’s about 1500 sq ft and this machine takes a lot of moisture out of the air. I start off emptying it about every 6 hours but after a couple of days it’s about every 10 to 12 hours. You can feel the difference in the air. It’s easier to breath. Especially at night! Easy to set up and easy to empty. Highly recommend!

Glad I purchased this dehumidifier…

I am very pleased with this dehumidifier. It is much quieter than the previous one that I had. This model has a digital control panel and the numbers consisently match a separate humidity gauge that I have. My basement is approximately 850 square feet and the 30 pint model seems to be sufficient. I do move it around now and then as it is on casters. One more feature I like is the water level indicator. Also, it just turns off when the water tank is full – no beeps to contend with. Overall, I am very happy with this product.

The dehumidifier is everything the description said, but the receptacle for holding the water is very small. And in order to dehumidify the air in the area that it is rated for, you would need to empty it a couple of times a day. We’re using in a basement room that is finished and measures about 10 x 25 feet and find it gets full rather quickly.

Highly recommend! We live in near the gulf coast (Fl) and its very humid, this machine works extremely well, sucking the water out of the air! It beeps when its full and is a little loud with fan on high, but its like a white noise background, so it does not really bother us!

An excellent product and shipper. We have several Danby products; all are reliable and well worth the investment. This shipper offered an excellent price and packaging combined with a quick delivery. The dehumidifier works very well, and we would recommend it for ease of use and value. We would also buy from this supplier again, without hesitation.

Gets the job done. Very wet basement is now dryer and smells fresher. Minamal noise, auto turnoff when the tank is full. I haven’t tried the continuous drain yet. Used on a 1500 sq ft basement. Basemen has a constant leak awaiting repair. The rest should be dry after the repair?

We used this item this weekend in our travel trailer and it seemed to work fine. It was not very humid but the indicator showed it reduced the humidity from 65 to 47 percent in just over an hour. We will put it to the test this winter tho.
