Customer Reviews

A great value, very nice unit. Assembly instructions are HORRIBLE.

I’ve been shopping for something exactly like this for a couple of months and I’m glad I found this. It’s made with inexpensive materials (particle board and very thin wood grain veneer) but it does exactly what I want it to do, and the price ($160 with free shipping) was more than fair. Appearance-wise, it’s plain but handsome, stable and strong, and it fits perfectly on a desk I already had. I do want to caution – no, WARN – potential buyers that the directions for assembling this unit are the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve put together several pieces of furniture of this type, including Sauder brand. I can say with all honesty that if I hadn’t brought that experience to this project, I never would have been able to figure it out. There are no written instructions, only a single drawing for each step of assembly, and those are small and lack detail, so you’re left to figure out a lot of the connector steps yourself. The boards are all numbered and those correspond well with the drawings, but the screws and patented connector pieces are not always intuitive, and the drawings are of very little help. All of that being said, since I was able to figure it out based on my earlier experience, I was able to put the unit together completely by myself in about 90 minutes. If you can put it together, you’ll love it. P.S. the one dimension that doesn’t show on the schematic image is the space from the bottom of the lowest shelf to the desktop, where you would fit a monitor. It’s exactly 17-3/4″ so if your monitor is any taller than that, you’d have to raise the hutch with blocks.

Nice Looking but with Structural Flaws

The cabinet works well with the L-shaped Cabot desk and unless you are measuring for something else, I would not suggest purchasing it and blind-fitting to another desk. The biggest disappointment with this desk is the amount of weight created by the center tempered glass cabinet door. The material doesn’t seem strong enough to support that kind of weight and so the whole thing when assembled bows in the middle given the appearance of a Torii. I went out to the hardware store, picked up a 2×4, spray painted to match, and prompted it up from the desk to below the tempered glass cabinet. Structurally, Cabot should have included something like this because the two small end vertical pieces just cannot support all that weight, and when put together the hutch is heavy so I would suggest two persons to heave it up on to your desk.

I don’t normally write customer reviews. However, this is worth taking the time to write and to inform customers about my experience. I recently purchased the Harvest set that included the desk, hutch, and vertical filing cabinet. First off, I would like to address how great Bush’s customer service is. I had to call the customer service line for Bush twice. Once for a broken piece and the other for a dent and scratches on the desktop. Both times I called, they were very polite and professional. They ordered me the replacement parts for both the filing cabinet and desk with no questioned asked. I also asked if they had a touch up pen for some minor scratches and they included one for me as well!

Great desk for the price

Took a while to build (by myself) because it was a surprise for the wife who is in med school and wanted a nice desk to work on. It is a very nice quality item and is worth the money. It does scratch so don’t be too harsh to it. The ‘charging station’ thing really wasn’t needed but that’s neither here nor there, there are other uses for that area that she uses it for. As for the hub on the desk, if you dont want to connect it to a computer to charge your devices, you will need to buy the cord separately. The following is the cable I bought from amazon for 7$: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X7B1WUQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_18

It looks nice but is not high quality

For the price, it’s OK. It looks nice but is not high quality. It arrived in a VERY beat up box and some of the boards had cosmetic damage from the shipping (pieces scrubbing against each other and leaving discolored areas, with a few small nicks). I anticipated something like this after reading reviews here, and I was not really willing to make the calls and wait for replacement parts. It would sure be nice if it arrived in perfect condition, but it is HEAVY, and I’m sure the delivery guys aren’t very careful with it. Also, the piece that covers the back is low quality. It is folded into 4 sections and the three seams between the sections don’t look very good at all, and it is flimsy. But, the hutch is relatively inexpensive and does what I want it to do.

For the price it is very nice and it looks great on my desk

Easy to put together and sturdy. I got it to go with a L-shaped desk I had bought a few weeks ago.

Awesome. Looks really good with my Realspace Dawson 60" desk

I needed something to help clear the clutter off my desk and floor surrounding my desk and this did the trick. It’s a little darker than my Realspace Dawson 60″ desk but it’s hard to tell with the lighting in my room.

Best self-assembly furniture I’ve come across.

I’ve put together a lot of the self – assembly furniture over the years. From probably almost every brand out there. What impresses me the most with this brand is how everything fits together so well. No misalignment holes, no holes too deep or two shallow. I’m also impressed with the quality of the workmanship. I didn’t have to scrape shavings out of holes before I put the hardware in. And every part was labeled with the same label as what you found in the instructions. Down to the individual bags used for each hardware and fasteners type. In shipping a couple of pieces got damaged and their customer service department was excellent. Within two days I had the replacements in hand. I’ve finally become a fan of the self-assembly furniture world. At least the Bush variety.

This hutch arrived intact, in order, and when they said it would arrive.

Missing parts, bows in center

There were some parts missing. Namely, the hinges for the glass door in the center. Had to call Amazon, who called Bush, who were pretty quick to send them. Saw it mentioned in another review, and I have to concur on mine at least, that they do bow in the center. Also, the nails that are used to hammer in the back are really flimsy. Definitely a lot of colorful language was used during that part. The rest of the assembly was ok. The directions could be more clear, though.
