I KNOW HOW TO CLEAN IT!!! Easily and painlessly, too…

So, this is definitely the best “hair catcher” I’ve ever used (thank you all you other reviewers!). I didn’t even know it was possible to have this level of cleanliness. It is night and day compared with having nothing there, and having to reach down in the drain and touch the gross wads of …. you know what I mean.
Works on covered drains, too

I have the kind of drain with a screw-on plug. Since my kids use the shower as a bathtub, I have to leave the plug in place. I turned this hair catcher inside out (pop the middle basket inside out, the little spikes will be up) and put it over the whole drain assembly. It has caught so much hair that I’m thinking of starting a doll wig business. The picture shows hair collected in one shower.
Catches the hair, but takes effort to clean

I’m kinda old and bald, so this device isn’t for me. My wife, however, has a very full head of long thick hair. She doesn’t like cleaning out clogged drains so I’m investigating solutions. We tried this item. This device is 5″ across (diameter). It’s flexible enough that it molded to the shape of our tub’s drain area without any real problem. The outer strainer slopes upward about 0.5″ to a center rim, then drops down into a little basket. The basket drops down about 1.0″ below the base of the unit. This caused a little problem for me because our drain only has 0.5″ depth before reaching the built-in cross-members. I had to cut off the bottom of the center basket so this would lay flat in the tub. It didn’t affect the performance because the water drained around the outer perimeter of the device, never overflowing into the center basket. As others have reported this has hair catching tines on the upper face. Removing the hair takes a little bit of effort. The overall effectiveness of catching hair is good, but my wife wants something that’s easier to clean. I suspect that allowing hair to build up until there is a mat would make cleaning easier. I think turning the unit upside-down and tapping it on a hard surface would pop the mat of hair right out of the tines. That said, my wife prefers the idea of cleaning the catcher after every shower, so I will shop for another solution.
Smaller than I thought but works well

I shed a lot and it’s not as tall as I thought it would be so I have to clean it often. However, it is a MUCH better alternative than letting the hair go down the drain and unclogging cleaning out all the gunky hair.
Catches more than I thought it would…

After a long, extensive, disgusting drain snaking session… I finally decided to invest in a real drain cover. This one seemed to be my best option.

Forget other gimmicks out there. This is the best thing to save my plumbing. I have two girls with very long hair. We had major problems until we bought this little gem.
WILL GROW MOLD IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN REGULARLY
