We have had this running day and night for 3 years and it is in great condition. There are no strange rattling noises or clogs like you see in some other air purifiers. It provides a nice ambient noise and it not too loud (on the lowest setting).

It’s huge and you can’t hide it but it really has helped. My allergies diminished and best of all I’m not dusting the area as frequently. It is also a bit loud but I’ve started to only run it while sleeping or away otherwise you have to turn the TV up loud just to counter the fan.

I LOVE IT! So I purchased another one!

I did alot of research and read alot of reviews trying to find an affordable air purifier that worked great and would not cost a ton to replace filters on which led me to this one. It works great and is easy to use and change filters on. To change the filters the cost runs about $8 every 3 months for the universal cut it yourself filters. Its simple, one cut, only takes a second and saves over buying the pre cut ones. The other filter is easy to vaccume as suggested and runs around $50 every 3-5 years. As some have stated it is loud especially when ran on high. This is a personal preference…..I however LOVE IT for the white noise it produces which is why it is in my room and I had to purchase another one for the rest of the house. The second one I did order rattled when ran on high right from the box but I was pleased that with a few clicks Amazon had a new one shipped right out to me that runs perfect! Yes there is an annoying bright blue light but nothing a piece of electrical tape couldn’t fix. Only disappointment is Amazon greatly reduced the price after my purchases. First one ran $150, second one $120 and is now currently listed for $112. So watch for deals. Either way I am happy with my purchases!

In this review, I will first summarize the major points and focus the details afterward. This way you can stop reading when you get the level of details you need. The definitions of “HEPA” and “CADR” are placed at the end of this review. Please vote for this review if you like it :) I appreciate it.

Works great, best air filter on the market. Is a little too loud on its highest settings.

Pros:

On the lowest setting, it is quieter than my old Honeywell HEPA Air Purifier

Although the outer shell of this HEPA Air Purifier could be of better quality and construction (it seems that it arrived either cracked at the seams, or it may just be that those parts are added in segments), the unit has been running smoothly since I bought it a few months ago. It also seems to use less power than my old Honeywell filter, that was one size smaller.

Has Good Features But A Bit Noisy

I have several other Honeywell air cleaners in my house. The other models are the size as this one but older. This one has a rather irritating higher pitched fan noise than the others. The older units have a soft, low pitched, fan noise, which is much easier on the ears. For me, at least. I am still experimenting with this model, maybe I will find a solution. On the plus side, it has positive on-and-speed-settings switch, not a digital “touch” type. The advantage of the positive click on type is that it restarts after power failures. I have a good many power interruptions and these Honeywell units are in a location that is only used occasionally. It is very nice looking, and sees well constructed. It is reasonably heavy. I will follow up after a few more weeks of experimenting with the sound issue. If I don’t find a solution, my next purchase will be an older model which is still offered on Amazon. It costs more, but the fan noise is something you have to live with all the time — so it is important.

This air filter replaces air polution with noise polution…

I’ve got it in my bedroom set to low and it’s still noisy. They really should have made a lower “low” setting. it might not filter as good but at least the noise would not induce insanity. I bought this unit knowing it was rated for larger rooms hoping that the low setting would make it suitable for my 120 square foot bedroom. It seems I may have been mistaken. I’m thinking about building a ducted noise suppressing housing and placing the entire filter inside it.. I wish I would have known about and researched the Honeywell SilentComfort series prior to buying this noise maker. Maybe I’ll move it to the living room and see if it’s still possible to watch tv without being bothered by it.

I love these purifiers

I love these purifiers. Bought a smaller model last year for the master bedroom and after seeing a marked improvement in my wife’s asthma and allergies I decided to go for the upgrade. I now have one of these in my downstairs area cleaning ~450sqft and one of these upstairs accompanied by the smaller model handling ~650-750sqft upstairs. I plan to replace the smaller model with a third of these and purchase a fourth as I would like to up the air exchange rate. Each unit of this model is rated to clean a room of between 350-450sqft depending on where you look online. The box is oddly silent on the maximum room size, but does state that it will exchange the air in the room 5 times an hour. At any rate, with a family of four and two huge English mastiffs I have noticed a marked improvement in air quality. The dogs fart a lot and I spend much less time airing out the house now!
