100% wife approved!

My wife does a lot of quilting and English paper piecing (still not exactly sure what the difference is). She mentioned wanting a travel iron and a tabletop pad thing to use at her work table. Being a bit of an iron snob myself, I was happy to find that Rowena made one. After reading a lot of somewhat dissapointing reviews about the iron crapping out, overheating, breaking, etc. I told my wife that this iron may not be cut out for regular day-to-day use. She has been using this travel iron for crafty lady projects for a year now & it gets used a lot! Almost everyday. I am happy to admit that I was wrong. It’s been a great iron for what she needed it for. She LOVES this thing. I should probably buy another one and just hide it away in case they get discontinued or something. She is that happy with it.
I Don’t Hate Ironing Anymore!

I love this little, lightweight iron! I never realized how much of a difference the number of holes in the bottom (approximately 100 versus 9 in my regular iron) would make in getting my clothes ironed more quickly and efficiently. I’m going to get rid of my regular sized iron and only use this one from now on.
Works well until it doesn’t work

I purchased this iron December 3, 2013 (according to the Amazon page I used for writing this review). This iron has traveled with me, since that day, for 5 trips to Europe, 2 trips to Asia, a trip to Brazil, a trip to Mexico and 3 trips inside the US. So it has spent some time in a suit case and on a plane. Each of these trips was no less than 1 week with many of them being 2 weeks. I used this iron Monday through Friday to iron my shirt for the day, and once per week for ironing my pants (sometimes twice per week if I spill something on them).
My favorite small iron

My favorite small iron. My disclaimer is that I only use it for ironing patchwork on a small surface next to my sewing machine. I haven’t had the need to use the steam function so I can’t say as to whether or not it leaks. This is my third one of these irons. The first one’s handle broke – probably because I iron sitting down and am pushing it too hard – but that was after several years of use. The second one died – also after several years. I often have the iron on for hours at a time, not just for a little travel touch up. When #2 died, I replaced it with a lower priced travel iron with a handle more like a knob. Hated it! The surface had a coating which was impossible to use for my purposes. I like the shiny soleplate on this iron which lets it glide smoothly. Bottom line – if you buy the same thing 3 times, I guess that makes you a happy camper.
A little gem.

I bought this iron as it was highly recommended by Sharon Schamber for a class of hers I recently attended. She recommended it by brand name and model as the only one she has found that gets hot enough to work well with the appliqué technique she taught us. It is very easy to use. It is small and light so it is easy to take to class, and to use on large and small pieces of fabric. Just a gem.
Handle broke just days after the Warranty period.

I bought this iron almost exactly one year ago. Ten days past the one year warranty the handle broke as I was ironing and it is now unusable. I don’t see any way to fix it. It was a wonderful product until just now though. It heated up fast and was as good as a full size iron. Have not decided if I will send it in for repair as the postage and repair costs will probably be as expensive as a new iron. I will not be buying another one as I can’t trust that it would not happen again.
We bought this iron from Amazon last September for about $28. The price is now just under $40, so someone must like it. The iron itself was compact and good to use, except that it suddenly stopped working less than 9 months after purchase. When contacted, Rowenta asked for model and serial numbers off the iron, and proceeded to inform us that it was out of warranty. We produced the Amazon receipt, showing it to be within the one year warrant. They then gave us return instructions, but told us it would take them three weeks or so to determine if the problem with the iron was covered by warranty. If they decide it’s covered, they will ship us a new one some sweet day. Of course, meanwhile, we’re without the iron for over a month! There might as well not be a warranty on this product. I also note that this iron wasn’t used more than twice a week, so it clearly shouldn’t have stopped working after such a short period of time.
