So far, our house has not burned down, so that is a good thing. I was a bit nervous about ordering this vaporizer based on the potential fire hazard cited in several reviews, but my husband has terrible allergy and sinus problems, so I am always up to try something new that may help him. The problem in Florida is that it is so humid, you really do not want to add more moisture to the air, so this waterless vaporizer seemed like a good idea. The green LED “nightlight” is amazingly bright in a dark room. Since it kept him awake, I masked off the vents and plug and spray painted the clear plastic with a black paint formulated for the heat of barbeque grills. It took a few tries, but I was able to block off about 95% of the light. The vapor scent is pretty localized so I used a heavy duty extension cord to position the vaporizer about a foot from his nose. The little medicated pads last a couple of days at best, before they need to be replaced. He only uses the vaporizer when he is sleeping and believes it does help a bit. It certainly does not fill the room with vapors.

This is a little heart shaped diffuser as shown. There is no on/off swtch. You just plug it in. It works like one of those Glade plug-ins, only using essential oil instead of a little chemical packet. Although they sell these pre-scented pads to go with it, I bought some blank pads, with nothing on them, and cut one down to fit. You can add any essential oil you want to them and you can re-oil the same pad again and again.

it was definitely smaller and lighter than i imagined it would be :) very neatly designed an the green light is an added bonus, additional nightlight. when plugged in, the aroma quickly fills the room. My son would normally fall asleep an sound congested, light snore in a short time, but when we used this vaporizer he slept soundly an quietly an hasnt been stuffy or congested since i bought it. it works really well an may save some visits to the doctor, who knows?? :)

I bought this mini plug-in vaporizer and also the larger plug-in vaporizer with night light. Unless you need a night light, this mini one works just as well as the larger one.

Vicks Waterless Vaporizer for cold relief

When you are miserable with a cold and congestion you will do anything to find a little relief. In what seems like a forgotten remedy was using Vicks Vapor Rub on your chest as a means to open up your bronchial passages and sinuses. The problem was that a big helping of Vicks Rub was messy, it could stain sheets, and wore off through-out the night. Now we have the Vicks Waterless Vaporizer..... to see how it works check out the video portion of the room.

Notes -

- The most important fact, is that it really seems to work. After each night I felt about 20-25% than the day before. Each morning I spent less time coughing, sneezing, an clearing my throat.

- Use the Vicks Waterless Vaporizer Scent Pads (6 Pads) - which is are not cheap, but not overly expensive

- Provides 8 hours of aroma/vapor per insert - I have used the pad for up to 16 hours, although you do see a drop-off on the second night

- Glows green when in use

- Three settings dependent on the size of the room.

- On the highest setting the aroma/vapor will easily fill up a 400 sq. ft. room

- Provides relief without the use of medicines

- It can be over-powering, almost smothering if you have a dislike for menthol.

Final Verdict - When I am sick the Vicks Waterless Vaporizer is now a part of permeant night time routine. While it may not be for everyone - I certainly would not hesitate recommending this to help someone ease the symptoms of a night time cold.
